Wokingham's White Horse Pub Plans Makeover

A traditional country pub just outside Wokingham could be getting a new look.

The White Horse pub, a beloved spot just outside Wokingham, is set for a makeover.

Located on Easthampstead Road between Wokingham and Crowthorne, this traditional country pub is famous for its drinks, meals, and Sunday roasts.

According to the Campaign for Real Ale, the White Horse is full of charm with friendly staff, featuring a bar area, restaurant, and a space for dog owners. Its food is highly praised, crafted from locally sourced ingredients.

The music-themed beer garden is ideal for families and pets, and the pub regularly hosts live music, open mic nights, quizzes, and charity events, making it a community hub.

Now, Greene King, the pub's owner, has proposed a fresh look. Plans include changing the white exterior to light pink and the window frames and awning to red. The existing sign, which depicts a horse in a stream, will be updated to show a horse rearing on its hind legs. However, the historic Morland sign, featuring a painter with a beer, will stay, as Morland Brewery was acquired by Greene King in 2000.

These changes still need approval from Wokingham Borough Council. You can check the application using reference 252360 on the council's planning portal.
