Wingstop is opening its second Reading restaurant this Friday, 27 March, after crews converted the former Pizza Hut at Reading Gate Retail Park into the American chicken chain.
The chain started in Garland, Texas, in 1994 and arrived in the UK in 2018 with a site at Cambridge Circus, London. Wingstop opened its first Reading branch at The Oracle in April 2021, taking over a spot previously occupied by Chick-fil-A and Miami Burger.
The new restaurant sits next to the KFC drive-thru, with both US brands hoping to attract customers at the retail park.
The menu features classic and boneless wings, tenders and burgers in more than 10 signature flavours including Lemon Pepper, Mango Habanero and Atomic. Sides include seasoned and sweet potato fries, dips and sweet treats like churros, while drinks range from milkshakes and soft drinks to beer.
Reading Borough Council granted Wingstop permission to sell beer from partner Camden Town Brewery from 10am to 1am daily after a statutory consultation drew no objections.
With Wingstop joining Next, which opened in November last year, Reading Gate Retail Park is now fully occupied.
