Thatcham Town Council has warned about a fake Facebook page and fraudulent emails contacting people to book pitches for the Thatcham Friday Market. Scammers are charging £85 for a single pitch - this is not an official rate.
The council says legitimate vendors should only use the Thatcham Town Council Facebook page or their official trader application forms. "Please don't send money, bank details or other personal information to anyone claiming to be organising our markets unless you've checked with us first,"
"If in doubt, just ask us! We'd much rather answer a quick question than have someone pay £85 to our mystery market imposter."
