An Irish-themed bar in Reading town centre is back after a bold makeover, promising to serve up good times, great food, and ‘the best seat in town’ for live sport.
An Irish-themed bar in Reading town centre, O'Neill's, is back with a bold new look, promising good times, great food, and the best seat in town for live sport.
Located on Friar Street, O'Neill's has long been a favourite for drinks, food, live music, and sports.
After a major makeover, the bar now boasts a sleek design, extra TV screens, and revamped seating areas.
It's been freshly painted green, similar to McCafferty's, another Irish bar nearby.
General manager Alexander Doust expressed excitement about the refurbishment, stating: “As a cornerstone of Reading’s nightlife, we’re delighted to have given the pub a much-needed refresh and can’t wait to share the exciting changes with our guests.”
Doust emphasised their commitment to exceptional service, saying, “What sets us apart from other venues is our commitment to genuine human interaction.”
During the summer, O'Neill's offers the largest outdoor seating area on Friar Street, with 70 tables outside and an additional 50 across the street in Market Place. They pay £350 annually for their pavement cafe licence from Reading Borough Council.
The O'Neill's brand is part of Mitchells & Butlers, the largest operator of bars and restaurants in the UK.
