Neighbours Clash Over Controversial Home Extensions

Neighbours are clashing over plans to extend a home in Milman Road, Bullbrook, amid fears about loss of privacy and parking. The three-bed end-of-terrace, near Longhill Park, already has a dormer under permitted development to add a fourth bedroom.

The owner has applied for two-storey side and rear extensions, a single-storey front extension, a garage conversion and internal changes to turn the bedrooms into three large ensuites.

Neighbours objected to overlooking, loss of light and the extensionss "overbearing scale". Bracknell Town Council also objected, saying parking is inadequate: the house currently fits one car on the drive and one in the garage, but the garage would be converted, leaving only one space and raising fears of obstructive parking.

Because five neighbours and the town council objected, the application goes to Bracknell Forest Councils planning committee for a decision.

Planning officer Kevin Lloyd Jones addressed the concerns and said the house is sufficiently distant from others so would only overlook neighbouring gardens, that light levels would remain acceptable, and that front changes would allow an extra car space so two spaces would be provided. He recommended approval subject to conditions.

He wrote: "It is considered that the development is acceptable in principle and would not result in an unacceptable adverse impact on the character of the area, on highway safety, nor would the development result in a detrimental impact on the residential amenity of the occupiers of the neighbouring properties."

The planning committee will decide on Thursday, September 10. You can view the application using reference PA/2026/0315 on the councils planning portal.
