A Korean barbecue restaurant in Reading town centre has launched a bid to sell alcohol and host music events.
A Korean barbecue restaurant in Reading town centre is aiming to sell alcohol and host music events.
The AKA Korean BBQ Station opened on St Mary’s Butts in December 2023, offering a range of barbecued meats, noodle dishes, sushi, and traditional curries. Diners can even cook their own meat right at the table.
The owners have submitted a licensing application to Reading Borough Council, requesting permission to host live music, play recorded music, and sell alcohol, extending food service until 2.30am on weekends.
The proposed hours are from 11am to 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, until 1am on Thursdays, and midnight from Sunday to Wednesday. A statutory consultation is underway, with feedback accepted via email until Sunday, November 2.
The AKA BBQ Station replaced the short-lived Smokin’ Buns and Saucy Chicks, which closed in January 2022. Before that, the site was home to Pizza Express for over a decade before its closure in September 2020.
