Residents living in Compton are being invited to a public consultation about development plans for 160 homes on the former Institute for Animal Health site.
Residents in Compton are invited to a public consultation on proposals for 160 homes on the former Institute for Animal Health site.
David Wilson Homes Southern and Homes England will hold drop-in sessions on Wednesday 14 January at the Wilkins Centre, Burrell Road, with two sessions: 2pm to 4pm and 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
Hybrid planning permission was granted in March 2023 for demolition, change of use of the northern part of the site to a wildlife habitat, outline permission for up to 160 dwellings and 1.75 hectares of employment land. That permission will lapse in March 2026, so the developer plans to submit a new outline application to preserve permission for a further three years.
Homes England says the same number of dwellings will be put forward and is looking at improvements to the proposed wildlife area and the drainage on site. DWHS and Homes England are now progressing the detailed residential scheme and are seeking community feedback. The consultation will allow people to view the proposals, ask questions of the project team and share any concerns before the reserved matters application is submitted to West Berkshire Council.
