Ascot Bungalows Set for Demolition and Renewal

Two bungalows in Ascot are set to be demolished and replaced with new houses.

Two bungalows in Ascot are set to be demolished to make way for modern houses on Fernbank Road.

Plans have been underway since last year to replace numbers 52 and 55 with new homes. Situated in North Ascot, these properties fall under Bracknell Forest Council's jurisdiction.

The area is characterised by residential houses, a shop, a takeaway, Ascot Heath Library, and a day nursery.

A proposal to replace 52 with a new four-bedroom home was approved in January. This two-storey house will feature red brick construction, double-glazed windows, and three parking spaces on Fernbank Road.

Planning officer Will Rendall stated that the project would enhance the area, noting that the existing bungalow is 'in a poor state of repair.'

On September 25, further details of the house design were approved, including building materials and provisions for cycle and bin storage, with bins located to the side and a shed for bikes in the rear.

Meanwhile, plans are advancing for 55 Fernbank Road to be replaced with two semi-detached four-bedroom homes. Each will boast open-plan kitchen and living spaces, three double bedrooms, a single bedroom upstairs, and three parking spaces.

A section 106 legal agreement is pending, which outlines developer contributions to the council and measures to protect the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area.

Planning agent Alistair Lloyd defended the project, stating, "The existing bungalow is of no particular architectural merit. We believe it should be replaced with something more modern if the owners prefer this route. A pair of semi-detached homes would maximise financial viability."

Unlike the other, number 55 appears to be occupied, with two cars visible in the driveway as of May.
